8:30–9:30 AM | It’s Not Raining… Where Is the Water Coming From? — 1.0 LU/HSW
Presenter: Laverne Dalgleish, Executive Director, Air Barrier Association of America
Moisture in building assemblies can come from more than leaks. This presentation explores how moisture moves through buildings, why focusing solely on a material’s Perm rating can be misleading, and how significant amounts of water can enter the building envelope.

9:45–10:45 AM | BE and the High C’s: Spec Writers and Enclosure Consultants in Perfect Pitch — 1.0 LU/HSW
Presenter: Pamela Jergenson, FCSI, CDT, CCS, CCCA, BECxP, CxA+BE, Technical Director, Building Science Solutions, Intertek
The 4 C’s—Clear, Correct, Concise, and Complete—are the foundation of effective specification writing. This session explores how specification writers and Building Enclosure Consultants (BECs) can use the 4 C’s as a common language to better communicate enclosure intent, responsibilities, and performance requirements, including those related to Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx).

11:00–12:00 PM | Groundhog Day: Recurring Field Installation Issues with Air Barriers — 1.0 LU/HSW
Presenter: Laverne Dalgleish, Executive Director, Air Barrier Association of America
This presentation explores how quality assurance helps ensure successful air barrier installation through qualified contractors, trained installers, evaluated materials, and third-party audits. Attendees will learn what to look for during site observations, identify common installation issues, and determine appropriate corrective actions.
12:00-12:30 PM | Elections / Announcements
12:30-1:00 PM | Lunch
1:00–2:00 PM | Airtightness Testing Goes Extreme — 1.0 LU/HSW
Presenter: Pamela Jergenson, FCSI, CDT, CCS, CCCA, BECxP, CxA+BE, Technical Director, Building Science Solutions, Intertek
Building testing is as unique as each building that is constructed. This presentation explores the application of airtightness testing requirements and protocols in unusual building environments through three case studies: a dry room with an unfortunate event, a LEED building with USACE specifications, and a historic building campus renovated into living units. Each case explores how to make construction testing work and the obstacles that must be overcome.
This event has been approved for AIA continuing education credits. Attendees will earn up to 4.0 LU/HSW.
